A visit to Chestertown.

Yesterday we had a nice visit to historic downtown Chestertown, and it was actually pretty fun. I didn’t think I would enjoy it having grown up walking the streets we toured, but we had such a good guide and it was pretty cool. I think the most interesting discovery of the day was the information on how free Kent County slaves were. Our county is so segregated even to this day that I always just assumed we were a racist county. It was interesting to discover that something around 60% of our slaves were free before the Civil War. So strange… I wrote a little poem thing about it.

Divided by color

Divided by community

Divided by society

We remain a strained relationship always being divided but-

United by homeland.
